US gaming retailer GameStop is claiming that the Wii U Pro Controller has the ability to last up to 80 hours on only one charge which is significantly longer than its counterpart, the Wii U GamePad. An Xbox 360 controller apparently lasts for around 30 hours if new batteries are placed into it so this is quite an advanced difference. GameStop also states that the Wii U Pro Controller is unable to play any Wii games which is a massive shame considering the controller would be perfect for titles such as Mario Kart Wii and Super Smash Bros Brawl. What are your thoughts on the Wii U Pro Controller?
The Wii U Pro Controller features the dual analog sticks and ergonomic button layout that you’ve come to expect, as well as a rechargeable battery that can last up to 80 hours on a single charge.
Wii U Pro controllers will not be included in the two Wii U bundles announced for consumers yet it has been confirmed that retailers will stock the controller for $49.99 in North America at Wii U’s launch. Wii U will release on November 18th in North America.
Nintendo has responded to Microsoft’s comments regarding its thoughts about the Wii U being ‘effectively a 360.’ The Wii U Pro Controller has been described by Microsoft as a copy of an Xbox 360 controller yet Nintendo says the Pro Controller is just an enhanced version of the Wii Classic Controller.
“The Wii U Pro Controller is an enhanced version of the Classic Controller Pro that has been designed specially to work with the Wii U console. It simply offers another way to play and more options for developers use. We do not compare ourselves to the other consoles.”
The Wii U Pro Controller has been announced by Satoru Iwata via the Nintendo Direct presentation. He describes it as being a much more comfortable gaming use.
