Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has replied to a question from The Independent asking why a second circle pad was not included in the upcoming revision of the 3DS. Iwata states that even though, technically, it could have been a possibility, the 3DS XL’s size would have had to be adjusted even larger than what it currently resides at. Would you want a second circle pad implemented on the 3DS XL?
“Attaching a second analog stick is possible but it would have made the system even bigger and, though it perhaps puts a burden on people that really want that second stick, it’s a call we had to make.”
“The choice, if we were going to include the second analog stick, was to reduce the size of the battery or make the unit much bigger. ”
